Grupo Faustino adds success to success at international level. Three of its wines are among those listed in the best wines of the year: Best Wines of the Year 2019 by Decanter and Best Spanish Wines 2019 by James Suckling.

Faustino I Gran Reserva, best Spanish red wine according to Decanter

The British magazine Decanter has included Faustino I Gran Reserva 2009 in its choice of “Wines of the World 2019”. This prestigious wine and lifestyle magazine highlights this red by Bodegas Faustino as the best Spanish red wine from among 10 Spanish wines.

The magazine states: “Our annual showcase highlights wines that have made a true impression on our experts, for their classic quality, value or peculiarity”. Among these experts are the Masters of Wine, Sarah Jane Evans and Dirceu Vianna Junior.

At this third edition of the blind tasting session leading to this choice, diversity was one of the main features. In the top 59 out of the initial 117 candidates, there were wines from 13 countries around the world, with Spain in second place with 10 wines produced under different Designations of Origin, only beaten by France.

As the magazine, which is distributed in 99 countries around the world, points out, Faustino I has “a great variety of flavours, a balanced wood with hints of oak, and is perfectly balanced on the palate with some delicious fruity nuances”.

Best Spanish Wines according to James Suckling

The famous wine critic James Suckling, on the other hand, includes Campillo 57 Gran Reserva 2012, by Bodegas Campillo, and Portia Summa 2015, by Bodegas Portia on his list of the World's Best Wines 2019. He selects 100 of the most outstanding wines from among 2000 wines tasted last summer.

Ribera de Duero Portia Summa 2015 was also awarded the Great Gold Medal at the Brussels Wine Contest and the Silver Medal at the Mundus Vini Spring Edition.

Campillo 57 Gran Reserva 2012, made in Laguardia, is a wine made in honour of the fourth generation of the Martínez Zabala family, which currently manages the winery. This red recently won the Gold Medal award by The Drinks Business magazine at the 2019 Rioja Masters Awards, which it shares with Portia Summa 2015.

2019 has ended in the best possible way for Grupo Faustino, with rewards for our work over the year and inspiring us to look forward to 2020 with enthusiasm.
